The Trials of Teaching
Letter from Robert Cormier to Kathy, Joyce, et al 10 October 1984
Cormier’s letter is to a group of teachers who were facing a censorship battle. He mentioned specifically how, in his visits to schools, his understanding and appreciation of what the daily demands of teaching required was an eye-opener for him. As is consistent with some of his other correspondence concerning censorship, he alludes to how censoring gate-keepers tend to criticize without deep consideration of the whole text and implications for removal of a book.
